PACB Educational and Professional Development

This story appears in the
Hometown Banker Pub 4 2022 Issue 9

PACB works to continuously offer professional development sessions, conferences, webinars, and more that cater specifically to the educational and training needs of its members. PACB educational programs are delivered through a variety of platforms and settings – such as virtually, self-paced, in-classroom, and through live online instructor-led programming – with continuing education credits being offered for many of these programs.

During 2022, nearly 900 attendees participated in PACB’s professional development training allowing them to add new knowledge and skills in a variety of topic areas including Asset & Liability Management, Fraud, Security and many others.

A “New Look” for PACB Educational and Professional Development in 2023
PACB has received feedback regarding its educational and professional development programs over the years – and that feedback has been heard. For 2023, PACB has re-structured its educational programming to now offer four major educational tracks: Risk Management, Commercial Lending, Human Resources, and Marketing. Each track will consist of multiple events that will also be available for purchase separately – PACB is excited to now offer these tracks as “Educational Bundles.” These bundles include one seat at each event within a track and are priced at a reduced rate to provide PACB Members with the best value available. PACB is also excited to offer All-Access Educational Passes – which guarantee one seat at every event within all four educational tracks. An All-Access Educational Pass provides the best value, as it represents a savings of $300 compared to purchasing each Educational Bundle separately. PACB believes that this new initiative will enable banks to more cost-effectively provide employees throughout the bank with Professional Development and Educational opportunities year-round.

Highlights in 2022 Education and Training
HR Conference: In 2022, the HR Conference was held in person for the first time since the pandemic. This year featured Jim Carchidi from JFC Staffing Companies as the keynote speaker, with a great lineup of speakers that followed and an interactive panel discussion to end the first day of the conference.

Maximizing Mutuality Conference: This year’s Mutuality Conference brought together nearly 30 bankers from 13 of Pennsylvania’s community mutual banks. This annual conference featured speakers from PACB Associate Members SBS Cybersecurity, Pillar + Aught, PWCampbell, Vikar Technologies, Luse Gorman, Jones Walker, The Kafafian Group, SHAZAM, Haberfeld, and the ICBA.

On-Demand and Live Webinars
Each year, PACB offers more than 100 webinars. The availability of these webinars offers PACB members the flexibility to gain training and education in a wide variety of subjects, such as cybersecurity, best practices, marketing, and more. Webinars are offered live and recorded and may be viewed by individuals or a bank team. Whether PACB is hosting a webinar with an exciting guest speaker, or a bank employee utilizes the catalog to browse for a specific topic, webinars allow PACB members to attain knowledge from subject-matter experts in a flexible, adaptable format.

Soft-Skill and Leadership Development
NextGenU is a PACB-exclusive online leadership and career development learning experience designed to enhance bank employees’ soft-skills and leadership skills. Through a curriculum of 17 different modules, NextGenU focuses on skills such as self-awareness, delegating, team building, customer service, and how to build a cohesive environment where different types of people can work together towards success. NextGenU allows those who have transitioned into managerial titles to become not only comfortable in their new roles but to thrive as leaders within the bank.

PACB 115th Annual Convention in Orlando, FL
In 2022, PACB’s Annual Convention at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort and Spa brought together nearly 100 bankers from 36 of Pennsylvania’s community banks as opposed to 33 banks in 2021. This year, 30 companies supported the Convention through sponsorships, as opposed to 22 companies in 2021. Our 2022 Convention featured multiple educational sessions, networking events with food and entertainment, and a keynote speaker, Coach Ken Carter. In addition, our spouses this year helped give back to the local community by assembling care packages for the Ronald McDonald House in Orlando.

PACB is gearing up to present members with a brand-new schedule and structure for the 2023 Annual Convention in Savannah, GA. The 116th Annual Convention will feature an educational program that will be more expansive and robust than ever – made possible by a new agenda that offers more educational sessions and free time for networking.
