Let’s take some time to celebrate community banking and the people that make what we do so meaningful. There are so many amazing individuals in our organizations who quietly slide under the radar. They volunteer their time outside of work by taking care of a sick neighbor, helping a friend in need, or donating money to a good cause. These individuals rarely discuss their acts of kindness and don’t feel the need to post their philanthropic acts on social media. They exist in numbers within our organizations and hold the characteristics which we want to permeate throughout our banks. Those are the people we want to surround ourselves with: the ones who build us up rather than tear us down. They are the ones who make our communities strong, develop robust relationships, and think more about others than they do about themselves. I am personally always looking to better myself and the organization and am inspired by those who so inherently contain these personality traits. Our businesses and communities are both stronger and kinder because of them. That being said, these individuals deserve our recognition.

PACB’s membership is made up of like-minded community bankers who believe success is broader than numbers on a piece of paper. We will be celebrating our success over the past year at the upcoming Celebration of Community Banking event on July 19th to 20th in Hershey Pa. Here, we will be celebrating institutions that support their communities in many ways. Our community bankers led the charge by successfully rolling out the Paycheck Protection Program benefiting the small businesses in our communities. This was only one way we helped develop and solidify relationships during the pandemic.

Our upcoming September Convention provides a fresh opportunity to meet face-to-face again with our peers, and will provide new ideas and educational exchange-sharing ─ as well as allow each of us many chances to further solidify our relationships with fellow bankers, suppliers and resource providers, in a casual and beautiful resort setting.

We will continue building each other up by collaborating in person in Scottsdale, Arizona at our 114th Convention, September 16th to 18th. I look forward to connecting with all of you in person at this event. I have had the privilege of meeting so many amazing bankers through PACB over the past years. It is soon time to relax and also celebrate our own achievements and what we have all been through in the last 18 months. Now let us gather, learn, network and move ahead so we can again meet the many exciting challenges of the future!
